That sounded like a lot of fun.

When I was a baby, my father was in med school. He used to read to me when he got home. Sometimes it was childrens books, sometimes it was what ever he wanted to read (Tolkien, for example), and sometimes it was his text books. Somehow these have all blended in my mind into something William Gibsonesque.

Also, the public radio stations near my home played old radio series like X minus 1, Dimension X, etc, as well as some of those freaky ZBS Jack Flanders series.

Then, there were the anthology shows, Outer Limits, The Night Gallery, and Twillight Zone.

Great idea for a poll/podcast Steve!

I don’t remember the very first book (vague recollections of something very juvenile from the school library), but I do remember what hooked me for good: the short stories of Arthur Clarke.

Fantastic, if only for some new things to check out that I haven’t yet.

For me,I first fell in love with Sci-fi the minute the Tantive IV came over my head in the first Star Wars movie in ‘77. It has been all down hill from there.
