I sincerely hope that Vetinari continues as Patrician until the series ends and as for Vimes as King, however reluctantly. No! Though I have to say Vetinari does seem to be getting soft. He has allowed several characters to do as they please (Unseen Academicals for instance) Perhaps it's time he put his foot down a little more firmly?

I am a great fan of Terry Practchett's discworld series and reread them when I can. There are many levels in the stories that might not come out at a first reading: irony, allegory, alternate histories etc.

I am finishing the second reading of "I shall wear midnight" and still enjoying finding new points of view.

May he live long and write more for our enjoyment, even by dictating.

i still really enjoyed this book. give it a chance, elak, terry had to dictate this one because he can no longer type so yes it does meander a bit at the beginning but once it hits it's stride it is right up there with his best in my opinion

I love all of Pratchett's books in the Discworld series, of which the Tiffany Aching books fall into as well. But, this one really hasn't grabbed me from like the previous three. Reason being that Terry beats around the bush too much this time around when it comes to getting the story going. He repeats himself and words a bit too much, and that always bugs me when an author does that. Makes for hard reading and I keep wanting to correct the problem. I'm just at the beginning of the book and, unlike the others, it doesn't flow smoothly, making me put it down a lot. That never happened with any of his previous works. Hours would pass by being that I was so absorbed in the enjoyment of reading them. I'll continue to dig into this new story, but I can tell from the start that it won't be as great as the others.
